Thrills we thrive on
Readers and members of THRYLLZ know that we are crazy about racing. Whether it’s on track or off-road, we love it. But one type of racing has a special place in our hearts: road racing. And so we are delighted to introduce you to the Dutch road racer of the moment: Wally Jacobs.
Road racing is a wonderful branch of motorsport. Our slogan, “Speed, adrenaline, and joy. The thrills we thrive on” comes from this. Road racing combines speed with adrenaline like no other. And that joy? We would like to invite you to visit a road race. Then you will know exactly what we are talking about. In fact, you will feel it for yourself. And you will probably become just as charmed by this branch of motorsport as we are.
That’s why we’re writing this special “Road to Isle of Man TT”. Because we have enormous respect for road racers like Wally. And we’d like to help him on his way by at least bringing his story to the attention of as many motorsport fans as possible. Would you also like to see a Dutchman competing in the Isle of Man TT? Give Wally a hand!
Road racing is coming under increasing pressure internationally. The FIM is washing its hands of it and local authorities are becoming increasingly reluctant to grant permits. But even racers who want to compete in road races seem to be few and far between. Especially when it comes to the premier class: Superbikes.
Nevertheless, we do have a road racer in the Netherlands who competes internationally. And we would like to introduce him to you. Meet Wally Jacobs and discover his story, “Road to Isle of Man TT”.
I am no stranger to the circuit and its surroundings. You can recognise me by my blue and fluorescent yellow motorbikes and the big grin on my face when I arrive at the paddock.
Many people know me from the IDC (International Dutch Championship), in which I participated in 2021. This is where I started my road racing career and finished second in the pro class.
I am also a familiar face in the Belgian Endurance field, with multiple starts in long-distance races. Here, I have achieved several podium finishes with various teams. For example, I finished second with these teams during the 5 and 7 hours of Assen and I have started several times in the 6 Heures du Spa-Francorchamps. I also regularly stood on the podium at Zolder during the endurance races.”
“However, my passion lies with road racing.
That is why I competed in the IRRC, the International Road Racing Championship, for the first time in 2020. Last year, I finished as the best Dutch rider in a strong international field, coming 11th overall, having competed in only four of the six races.
The atmosphere on and around the paddock, between the riders and at the tracks is truly unique, and I would like to invite everyone to come and take a look.
Partly thanks to this performance in the IRRC, I have been invited to participate in the 2025 ManxGP, where I hope to qualify for the 2026 Isle of Man TT.”
